TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
It has been said that music is a universal language. Everyone can understand it, enjoy it, and relate to it in their own unique way. It is a language that can often speak without words and still manage to reach your mind and touch your heart.
My teaching philosophy is very simple. I am here to teach the language of music; how to write it, read it, play it, create it, replicate it, compose it, understand it, connect to it, and communicate successfully with it.
I teach music using one of the world’s most versatile instruments; the piano. The piano can lead an entire orchestra, be one of the main instruments in a pop or jazz band, or it can be played as a solo instrument. The piano can be played by one person or sometimes two or three people at the same time! Two or more pianos can be played together to create a piano ensemble. All types of music can be played on the piano; classical, pop, rock, jazz, or blues, just to name a few. Whether a student wants to one day pursue a career in music, or simply play for his/her own enjoyment, the piano is a rewarding instrument to learn for anyone, at any age.

I believe that learning music is a life-long journey of which the teacher, student, and the students family need to be an active part. I would like to share my views on the roles of the teacher, student, and the student’s family:
The Teacher: I am the students guide. I provide individualized instruction to each of my students, including tools, tips, practice techniques and fun and encouraging ways to learn how to play the piano. I am very positive in my approach to teaching. I want my student’s to be fulfilled and happy making music. I work with my students to help them create and exceed musical goals. I am 100% dedicated to the success of my students!
The Student: The student is the one who makes the music come to life. I believe EVERY student has the potential to achieve what they desire in music. It is the role of the student to dedicate time to learning the piano at home. Practice is extremely important and it is the only way a student can excel in music. Good, quality practice time weekly is the way to go! A student needs to be 100% dedicated to his/her success!
Family: Family truly plays an important role in a student’s music education. The more support a student has, the better. Positive reinforcement from parents really goes along way. Ask your child to play piano songs for you. Show that you are proud of the hard work being dedicated to learning the piano. Join us during lesson times to show your support. Have your child play for siblings, grandparents, and friends so they can show their support as well. Do anything you can to be a positive advocate in your child’s music education. Be 100% dedicated as a family and your child will be sure to excel. Adult students, share your music with others! Play for your family, your children, or your friends. They will, without a doubt, be delightfully proud of all you've accomplished as a musician.
